Thank you for taking the time to check us out. God is doing some amazing things here in Pottersville and we are grateful to be a part of it. Pottersville Church has recently embarked on a mission of revitalization and growth. We have added a contemporary service, launched a community outreach which occurs nearly every Saturday evening and are busy building bridges, connecting our small faith community with Pottesville and the surrounding region. If you are looking for a church home where the Scripture is taught, where God’s presence is welcomed, where authentic community is pursued and where there is a burden for the lost and hurting, we are it.
One of the things most people want to know when they visit a church website is “What do they believe?” We have decided to provide you with an abbreviated answer to that question right here on the home page (see below). Our mission statement, also at the bottom of the page, reflects those beliefs in an actionable form – check that out as well.
Thank you for visiting us on our site, we look forward to meeting you sometime soon.
It is by grace…
Please join us for worship on Sunday mornings. We are grateful to offer two different worship experiences, both classical and contemporary, with our “Kid’s Church” happening concurrent with the contemporary service (children start in the adult service and then leave from there).
Traditional Service: 10:00am
Contemporary Service: 11:15am
One service on November 2, 2014 for the Founder’s Day Celebration
Pottersville Reformed Church will be celebrating our 149th birthday on November 2nd. To commemorate the event, we will be combining both the traditional and contemporary worship services into one service, beginning at 10:00, followed by a covered dish lunch. “This service is significant because it will start the countdown toward our 150th anniversary one year from now” says Tom Giglio, pastor of the old church. “Over the past few years we have found ourselves in a climate where many rural denominational churches are closing due to shrinking attendance. Here at Pottersville we are believing for the opposite. We are believing for a fresh wind of God’s Spirit to blow through our faith community, drawing people who are hungry for an authentic faith experience undergirded by an ancient yet rich faith tradition.”
The Pottersville Reformed Church, located in the heart of Pottersiville, would like to extend a warm invitation to one and all to join us on November 2nd. for our commemorative service and/or lunch.
Non-denominational Bible Study
On Tuesday evenings during the school year, we gather in a more intimate setting to dig into the Scriptures. This interactive study draws people from well beyond our church members, with folks coming from a variety of places and backgrounds. We hold the study in the “Crows Nest,” an incredible gathering place in the Administrative Building of the Purnell School (the Purnell School is located at 51 Pottersville Road, just opposite the church). Come join us on Tuesday evenings from 6:30 to 7:30, we would love to have you join us, even if its just to check things out.
Community House Outreach
Our Community House, located directly across the street from the church and on the beautiful Black River, provides an incredible place for getting people together. We are passionate about creating spaces to make connections and building relationships, and the Community House is proving to be the perfect venue. Complete with a 1500sq.ft. great room, lighted stage, kitchen, sound system and air conditioning, it is the host facility of our local outreach thrust. Visit us Saturday evenings at 7:30 for any of the following events; Acoustic Cafe (1st. Sat.), Teen Connection (2nd. Sat.) and Swing Dance (3rd. Sat.). We also host two AA meetings, every Wednesday and Friday evening. Check out the web pages above for more information on each of these programs.
What We Believe
As part of the Reformed Church in America, we believe in a triune God; Father, Son and Holy Spirit, who is the initiator and creator of all things. We hold tightly to the authority of the Scriptures, salvation by grace alone in Christ’s work upon the Cross and the ongoing presence and power of the Holy Spirit who resides in the believer. We echo the Apostle Paul in 1 Cor. 13: 13; “Three things will last forever – faith, hope and love – and the greatest of these is love” and we endeavor in all things to “Do justly, love mercy and walk humbly before our God” (Micah 6:8).
Passionate about encountering God’s presence in Worship
Intentional building relationships beyond the walls of our faith community
Committed to the study of scripture and to prayer
Determined to minister to the needs of the less fortunate, both locally and globally, in Jesus’ name.
